Southern California Indian Center, Inc. has been able to provide services and resources to American
Orange for the last 40 years.  As we move into our “40th Ruby Anniversary” year, it is very important
for us to remember and recognize our elders for their vision and efforts.   They represent the history
of our American Indian people and the sacrifices our ancestors made to give us a secure place in
society.  It is on this strong foundation that we continue to build as we endeavor to perservere with
our mission of providing services for intertribal urban American Indians, as well as Alaskan and
                                                                     Native Hawaiians.

For the past 40 years, the goal of SCIC has been to promote social and economic self-sufficiency
among American Indian people.  This represents our efforts to provide a positive contribution to
American society and share our vision with non-Indian people.  Our "unique trust" relationship with
the U. S. Government has created a delicate balance of success from resources based on treaties
that provide promises of protection and services from the United States in exchange for land.  This
trust responsibility extends through the tribe to the individual tribal member whether residing on or off-reservation or tribal homelands. This trust relationship is the foundation for agencies providing service to American Indian people throughout the country.

In recognizing this relationship and its impact on Indian people, we also give our thanks and recognition to those Indian Nations whose homelands encompass Los Angeles, Orange, and Riverside counties.  In particular, we give our thanks to the Indigenous Tribes in Southern California.  The Southern California Indian Center, Inc. main office is located in their homeland and we honor them and their ancestors and ask their blessing on our facilities, staff, and board members.

On behalf of the Southern California Indian Center Board of Directors, staff, and community, we would like to thank all who have contributed to our community.  Southern California Indian Center's success has been due to the hard work and dedication of those that believe in our mission.  They include: our staff, volunteers, donors, and corporate sponsors.

We appreciate all our support from the community we serve and look forward to another successful 40 years.

pila maye! (Thank you)
